Petrichor is the earthy scent produced when rain falls on dry soil. From the ancient Greek “pétra” (rock), and “ikhor”, the ethereal fluid that is the blood of ancient gods. When a raindrop lands on a porous surface, air from the pores forms small bubbles, these float and release a mist of fragrance.
